I am looking for clipart that I can use in designing some wedding invitations. I want designs like damask, flourish, scrolls, both single designs and background images. I am interested in online sites and/or software that I can purchase. I am NOT looking for cheesy pictures of a cartoon-looking man and woman in wedding attire, I want graphics or designs. I’m looking for something that looks professional and classy and elegant.

NavyWife asked:

I’m already married, but my husband is in the Navy so we did the whole Justice of the Peace thing; but in December we are having a church wedding with all of our friend and family. I read on the internet that 8 weeks is ideal for sending out the invitations. But i’m the type of person who does everything in advance, I’m always always pre-prepared. I do have a lot of out of town guests since most of my family is in Arizona and the wedding is in Texas. When is the earliest I should send them out?

Wedding Invitations

In a wedding, many friends and relative would be invited to grace and witness the occasion. It is important that you secure them as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Once you have finalized the date for the wedding, it is time to draw up a preliminary guest list. Depending on the type of wedding chosen, you might want to quickly send out a “Save the Date”card to the people on your guest list to secure the day. Then quickly follow up with the invitation for them to r.s.v.p. By planning early, you would know exactly how many people would be turning up for the event and you can better plan your logistics for the event.

What should you then decide on the wedding invitation? Firstly, you should consider the type of design you want. The details can go all the way down to the envelope used and the type of printing. Try to do this at least 6 months in advance. Prior to that, it is recommended that you send out the “Save the Date” cards so that your guests are aware that you are getting married on this day.

After you have gone to the printer to discuss on the design and start printing, it is important that you keep track of the timeline. It is important that you send out the invitation at least eight weeks before the wedding so that your guests have sufficient time to respond to you. Sometimes, the postal delivery might take up to two weeks and for them to revert to you on their availability, four weeks might already be gone. Before you panic and try to finalize the details with the wedding planner and the hotel, it is advisable to draw up a timeline with the printer to ensure the timely printing of the invitation cards.

Some tips you can keep in mind:

Mail the cards to friends and relatives who live out of town, or far away. This would give you some time to ensure that they have sufficient time to respond to you and to make the necessary transport arrangements. Put a website address on the card. This is to make things easier. If they can respond via your wedding website, it would help to speed up the process. While printing the wedding invitation cards, you might want to also prepare thank you cards which are mailed out after the event. In this way, you might be able to get a better deal as you are printing both sets of cards out at the same time.

I don’t want to spend $300 on my wedding invitations. Usually that cost doesn’t include the RSVP, reception, inserts, etc… I want to cut costs because we are on a budget. Any suggestions on some great websites that don’t charge an arm and leg for invitations?

We are already married, but now we have the money saved to do a formal ceremony with friends and family. We are paying for everything and I was wondering about how to word the wedding invitations. Should I put my maiden name or my married name? Should it be my husbands name first or my name first? I am really looking for some suggestions on how to word the invitations. Help me, please.

Wedding Invitations – Will You Fold’em?

When it comes to shopping for your wedding invitations, wondering if they will fold or not is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. On the other hand since many styles do involve some type of fold, you really should be familiar with all the different folds so you know exactly how they affect the look of the invitation style.

Some of the more common folds include:

Invitation folder which has a single fold down the center of the paper so each half is equal. The fold can appear either at the top or on the side of the invitation with your wording appearing on the front of the folder or on the inside once it’s opened. French-fold means the paper is folded twice creating an invitation with four equal sections or panels. This fold is most commonly used with invitations made out of parchment paper. Short-fold is created with one fold that is off-centered from the middle of the paper so the front panel of the invitation is shorter than the longer back panel. The bottom of the back panel that is visible may show a special design or be printed with your first names. Tri-fold occurs when the paper is folded twice either vertically or horizontally to form an invitation with three panels. Both outside panels are folded inward so they overlap, one on top of the other, covering the middle panel. Z-fold is formed in accordion fashion meaning the paper is folded twice in opposite directions creating a three-paneled invitation. Gate-folds can be fashioned with either three or four panels where the two outside panels fold inward to meet in the center. In an open gate fold, there are three panels, with the bottom panel being twice the size of each folded panel. In a closed gatefold, there are four panels of roughly equal size where the outer panels are folded inward together. In some cases, the folded panels are uniquely designed to interlock together.

Of course not all wedding invitations are designed with folds. Many styles are simply one-panel invitation cards.

How should I word these wedding invitations?

Yay! asked:

I am making the wedding invitations to my uncle’s wedding and I don’t know which words to use. It’s going to be a small wedding in a friend’s house with just family and close friends so I don’t want it to be too formal. They will be hand delivered also.
