How much did you spend on Wedding flowers through a Florist?
I want to know how much it cost you to have flowers at your wedding. I am thinking about having roses.
How much did it cost you to have flowers at your wedding? What type of flowers, and was it through a florist.
Now on a second note, I know how to make boutonnieres and corsages on my own, and bouquets.. So we were just gonna by bunches of roses and do it ourselves. =) I am trying to figure how much we are saving based on how much you guys spent on flowers for your wedding.

We replaced roses in bouquets with Ranuaculas- Looks like a rose but it was 50 cents cheaper a stem, and we had three bouquets + Brides and we did do Rose boutonnieres for Moms & Groomsmen and we spent $550.00. The Matron of Honor also picked them up the day of so that there was no delivery charges. That was for my best friends wedding five years ago.
Im using freesia, two types of hyacinth, ranunculus, hydrangea and ivy. Some of the boutonneires will have wax flowers. For my bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 7 boutonneires, and 2 wrist corsages it’ll be $325.
This is an email response I got from a local florist recently:
Thank you for your inquiry about wedding flowers. It sounds like for your flower needs,
a budget of $1000.00 with work well. Bridal bouquets tend to average $120.00 – 150.00, Bridesmaids average $60.00 to $75.00, corsages $20.00 each for mothers, boutonnieres for the men average $10.00 each. Where the expense adds up quickly is for centerpieces, and ceremony decor.
I hope that helps!!
I was told to consider letting my florist know my colors, then asking her what flowers are in season at that time of year that go with my colors. This would insure that I am not having to special order flowers. Buying in-season flowers and a bit of flexibility will keep the cost down a bit.
Brides bouquet is usually $150-300
Bridesmaid bouquets $50-150
I spent about 850 but I had a HUGE bouquet lol so mine was like 250ish. My bridesmaids bouquets were inexpensive ( I think around $35, maid of honor and 4 bridesmaids). 9 boutineers( $10 each, groom, best man, 3 groomsmen, father of bride, father of groom, 2 grandfathers of the bride). 10 corsages ($25 each, mom, step mom, step mother in law, mother in law, 2 sisters in law, 3 grandmothers of bride). and $125ish for flowers at the church. I have a huge family but I also had roses and lillies which were expensive.
For my daughter’s wedding we were quoted
$150 for bridal bouquet
$ 75.00 for each bridesmaid bouquet (there are 6)
$35.00 for each mother’s little hand held bouquet (3)
$22.50 for each grandmother corsage (2)
$10.00 groom boutineer
$8.00 for other boutineers inc. fathers. (9)
$35.00 for toss away bouquet.
The first bill was over $800.00
My daughter was appalled by the expenses when we got the final estimate, she got on the phone with the florist and immediately dwindled down that bill by a couple hundred dollars (actually decreased it to closer to $300.00) — did away with the throw away one— her bridesmaid is making her one (smart girl), and decreased the other expenses. The florist couldn’t really argue with her as she was the bride (although the florist tried to insist that she really wanted stephanotis and a few other very expensive flowers)
ZERO!!!!!!!!! Hobby Lobby has a lot of nice flowers that look VERY real soooo we are NOT spending ANY MONEY on real flowers……these will last us a lifetime…..like our marriage =)
Remember whatever flowers are in season they are the cheapest. Roses are very expensive but you can go to a flower market or warehouse, buy them yourself like you said and make your own flowers for the wedding. I had silk flowers throughout, my mother-in-law made my bouquet, everything and I still have it. Depending on your budget and what you want, getting flowers from the florist can cost upward of several hundred dollars if not more. You can go to a garden center to buy large flowers (gerberar daisies, orchids, etc.) decorate as center pieces on the tables and the church. Start looking at wedding magazines, Martha Stewart has good ones to get ideas.
Have a beautiful wedding.
