We just ordered 50 invites through Crane, super nice quality, with the RSVP card and a gold motif, 2 envelopes, 1 for the invite then one to stuff and mail the invites and we paid $900.00. But Crane is timeless, be careful the websites that you can buy them from online are not that good of quality if you care about presentation and paper thickness. I think the invitation says alot about how formal your wedding will be, ours is black tie optional. Go to Papyrus and Paper Source you can go in and feel and see their paper or buy from the Crane books, they have tons of huge binders of samples, they also have classes on how to do it yourself. I have found some awesome deals between Michael’s, Wal Mart, Office Max, Exclusively Weddings and some area card stores where I live. In the end though, if you have time and enjoy DIY projects, you may want to make them. I decided to make my own using two colors of card stock, vellum, a cute ink stamp and ribbon (plus glue and ink). I don’t have many to make so I don’t mind taking the time to do it. For all the materials I have spent $12 and that includes enough to make 30 wedding invites, 60 reception invites, RSVP cards and envelopes. All I have to worry about now is the postage, which is going to be around 58 cents each.

Wedding invitation prices can vary from costing a couple hundred dollars to thousands. Craft stores, like Michaels, and online retailers such as weddingpaperdivas.com and paperdirect.com, sell pretty invitations in kits. Kits from Michael’s tend to cost less money, but require more prep work including printing the text and putting the invitations together. Kits from Paper Direct cost a similar amount as Michaels, but each item (invitation, RSVP, thank you cards, etc.) is sold individually allowing for greater customization. Kits from Wedding Paper Divas are more expensive, but come pre-printed and ready to assemble. Also, you can purchase extra items that aren’t always available in the craft store kits, like matching save the dates, enclosure and thank you cards.

I am doing mine myself. i went to walmart and got the martha stewart DIY invites and I am printing them out myself. It was $20 a box (40) and I got 3 boxes and I spent $50 on ink. So all together I spent $110 and they look really nice. If you don’t want to do that then maybe try weddingpaperdivas.com

$15 for 50 Wilton invites, envelopes, reply cards + envelopes. $7.50 for box, $ 7.50 for s/h. Go to Wilton.com and run trough printer yourself. It’s very easy.

These invitations I think are very affordable for the beautiful graphic design work on them. Plus, since they are double sided, you don’t need to have the whole folder/multiple pieces of cardstock invitation, which saves money and people losing pieces of it. Folio invites can get really expensive, plus postage is more since they are thick and heavy.
I would then get my own RSVP postcards from vistaprint or another really cheap printing place- or even print RSVP cards yourself. Who cares what those look like, since the guests don’t keep them?

That said I think you can find very nice invitations for under $3 per invite (total package), maybe even closer to $2 like the ones in the link above.

I got mine from Exclusively Weddings. They look really expensive (they even gave me tissue to put in the envelopes) but were really cheap compared to other companies. If you really need to save money you can buy blank invitations and response cards at a place like Wal Mart or Staples, but you can definitely tell that the quality is lower.
A hint if you go with EW: order at least 1 invitation sample (you can get up to 3 free). They sent me a 10% off coupon with no expiration date with my samples.

i went to walmart and got mine. 19.99 a box of 50. has the envelopes and response cards and envelopes for them too. then just type up your invitation and print them out. they have a couple really cute designs too! good and cheap.

STAPLES has their own little secret! they never advertise it and i don’t know why, they do wedding invitations for cheap and they are beautiful
