The Future Mrs. Nejedlo asked:
I am looking to go to school for wedding planning and I am just wondering if there is any really good schools. I live in Wisconsin. I am wondering what the career potentials there are and the earning potential with this career.

Take a good Business course!
Right now the only college offering a full bachelors degree in event management is the university of central florida. It is part of their college of hospitality management. Keep in mind though that a field like wedding planning is really all about experience, even with a degree expect to spent a lot of time as someone’s assistant before you can start out on your own.
Have you watched the news or read the paper lately? The economy is in the toilet, people are losing jobs and drastically cutting back on expenses. One of the most frivolous expenses is a wedding planner, because there are so many books and websites dedicated to helping brides plan their big day. Obviously you’re a big girl and can do whatever you’d like, but I would suggest that you go to school for something a bit more … stable. You can do wedding planning on the side, if you like, but I wouldn’t count on it to pay the bills.
Many schools are good but you need to become a member of The National Assoc. of Wedding Planners. I’m an event florist and don’t know much about the planning end of thing but I can tell you that the best I have ever worked with is great at being loyal to vendors and keeping the couples in a real view of their budget. Work with a well known planning firm for a few years to get started right and learn skills that only experience can bring.
I would go to your local community college and see if they have anything there.
And, good idea to go to school~
Good luck!
