How far out before a wedding do we need to get our wedding rings?

I’ve gone to a couple of jewelry stores and they said the rings won’t take that long to inscribe. is there any specific reason that some people recommend doing this so far out? thanks!

yeah I would get advice from your preferred jeweler on how long it takes them to order and engrave the rings. then add 30 days to allow for any screwup on their end. 6 mos is a long time to be holding on to valuable jewelry, if you lose it or it’s stolen, you’re SOL. leave it at the jeweler’s as long as possible.
We got married in September and we got my ring in April, but only because it came in a set with the engagement ring. I got his ring in July. I would say at least 6 weeks beforehand, and probably more like 8 weeks would be best.
I would start looking now and go ahead and get them. The reason so if you need to get them re sized or something else might be wrong with them you will have plenty of time to get them redone. I know when I get mine re sized it took a month to get it back. Good luck to you and Congrats.
My husband and I got our rings three months before the wedding. We had his custom made and mind just had to be sized. It ended up only taking a couple weeks for the diamonds ans such to come in and for the jeweler to create his ring. The good thing? We had the rings waiting and ready well in advance. I would say the sooner the better, especially if you both already know what rings you want. It wouldn’t hurt to have them early, but you don’t want to risk them not being ready on time.
I know someone who managed to accidentally throw out his wedding band the Monday before his Saturday wedding. (He didn’t realize there was anything in the envelope). He got a new ring on time.
Like people said, go with what whoever you’re getting them from requests. There’s nothing wrong with getting it early, but I’m wondering if that timeline is for when you’re supposed to start looking.

hey, if all you are getting are simple gold bands, you can get those 1 hour before the wedding…OK that is perhaps an exaggeration, but they are stocked everywhere and can be resized to fit you perfectly within minutes… an engraving with your names etc, can also be done within an hour if you go to the right people. It helps if you have access to lots of jewelers (f.ex.the jewelry district in New York City).
If you are getting a more valuable ring with diamonds I would shop a little earlier. It is more difficult to resize these rings. Good luck, and no need to panic.
Depends on the situation. My fiance and I already ordered ours because we decided to put them on layaway. We’ll have them paid off in December and our wedding is in February.
He wanted a Tungsten ring. Tungsten cannot be re-sized, so they would have had to make one for him. Luckily, he is a size 11 finger, and they had one there and put it aside for us. Also luckily, I’m a size 7 – the size that all the rings are in the store – so that went into the bag too.
So, depending on the type of ring that you are looking for and your ring size as well as how you are going to pay for them, you could be looking at 2 weeks (if you both are the size in the store and you are paying for them outright) or a year if you’re in our situation.
I would go to the jeweler and decide what kind of ring you want then talk to them about your options. Also, keep in mind that styles change as well. So, if you see something that you like and MUST have, don’t wait on it because it might not be there when you come back.
