Not a dumb question at all. what we learned is that there are rules, but each person has to make decisions that they are comfortable with regard this all important day.

I didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on an engagement ring that my wife wasn’t 110% thrilled about. I have a friend who is a gemologist, so she got to pick her stone out as well as the setting (separately) then she didn’t see it until I proposed.

We later picked out our bands together.

You can do it however you like. Buy them all together, he buys the engagement and your wedding ring, you buy his. Or you can go together to pick the wedding bands.
I went with my fiance to just look at rings I told him what I wanted for an engagement ring and he bought that one. We also looked at wedding bands that matched. He went back and bought then both and a ring for him. I then paid for his ring as a gift.

man picks out engagement ring and gives to girl. then when the wedding is close, man and woman go to jewelry store together and pick out their own bands together.

Well, my fiance and i are going and picking his out together. I already have mine because it was a bridal set with the engagement ring.

Its soo pretty, but sitting all alone in a little box. Just waiting for us to get married next year so it can be worn.

So, yeah i guess you pick them out together unless like mine you already have it or you are using a family heirloom.

Yes, your right. The man usually picks out the engagement ring, unless it’s more of a planned thing. Wedding rings are usually chosen by the couple together. Sometimes wedding rings will come in sets where they actually include the engagement ring, so.. say, if you get an engagement ring that came in a set that included 2 wedding bands, then you wouldn’t have to worry about buying the wedding bands because you already have them! But yes, usually the couple buys the wedding bands together unless certain circumstances arise.

the guy picks the engagement ring and usually the couple togethor pick out the actuall rings the ones that both give each other at the wedding

if its a surprise engagement, usually the man will get the ring himself. if its more of a planned and talked about thing, they pick it out together. the wedding bands (the one you get at the wedding ceremony) are usually picked together too. my fiance and i had talked about it for a while, so we went and i picked out the one i liked.

couples will usually pick it out together but mostly it’s the grooms responsibility to give it to the best man for him to watch over or for him to give it to the ring bearer
