There are a bunch of different ways to handle this. Sit down with your fiance and decide what works for you.

1. You can buy a matching set together.
2. You can buy an un-matching set together
3. You can pay for one another’s rings after choosing your own.
4. You can pay for your own rings.
5. (This is what I am doing) You can secretly choose one another’s wedding bands, pay for them without the other person’s aid, and not let them see the band until you are slipping it on their finger at the altar. (Just make sure you know what one another likes.)

Everyone is different. I told my husband what kind of band I wanted, and he got it. He picked out his band, and, he paid for it. (He won’t let me pay him back). It depends on your ages, financial situation, etc. Talk to your fiance openly about it, so there are no hurt feelings about who will buy/pay for what! And best wishes! Enjoy every moment!

Traditionallly the groom buys the bride’s ring and the bride buys the groom’s ring. However, in most cases these days the couple purchase the rings together so that they can get matching sets at cheaper prices.

The women is supposed to buy the husbands wedding ring but you have input on the rings. Pick out what you both like. You should pick out one for each of you together, it isn’t supposed to be a suprise and traditionally the rings match in some way, color style size… make up your own traditions and pick out two rings that suit each of you.

Get pictures on the inter net and let him know your preferences. This way you can you can give him some input on what you’d like and he can also have some say in it.

My husband and I shopped for our rings together 37 years ago, and he paid for them both. Neither of us has had our wedding band off since we put them on during our wedding!

If you have plenty of money and want to give the ring to your husband-to-be as a wedding gift, that would be very nice!

It is a matter of choice. Talk to your future spouse and see what works for both of you. There is no right or wrong. Whatever works for you is what is right.

No it is not rude if you tell your boyfriend what type of ring you like. You might as well let him know so he knows what to look for, but be realistic. If he cannot afford what you like, why start on a bad foot right? You might try to start little and then as you get more money, get something bigger. But talk about it and agree on what you both want.
