You will have to check with the person marrying you (for example in the UK some registry offices do not allow you to use anything other than the legal vows) I know some other places are more flexible, so give them a call and ask them.

You bet! Most vows that are on line are not copy written, so there is nothing to worry about there. If you happen to find one that fits, sort of and another that could work…sort of, then do the cut and paste! Many of my brides do just that, I have a lot of ceremonies and vows on my site. As a wedding minister, I encourage couples to write their own vows. Most don’t. Some that say they will, try, find it hard and give up. But guests do like to hear the couple. That’s why they came to the wedding – to see and hear the couple. You can find other vows and let them be a general guide.

More free help below for ideas on how to write sensational vows, and some real-life examples of vows that couples have written in ceremonies I have performed. You can even add your own.

Try to tweak it a little bit so it is your own, but you can use it as a guideline. Your vows should come from your own heart, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little help. Good luck!

I think that if you use it as a frame work and tailor it to your relationship that’s fine. Just make it personal.
